John Coffey aus Utrecht vermengen erfolgreich Punk, Rock´n´Roll und Screamo. Im Jahr 2009 veröffentlichten die Holländer ihr Debütalbum Vanity via Sally Forth Records und tourten danach mit Bands wie Underoath, Cancer Bats, Architects, The Chariot oder Ghost Of A Thousand. Außerhalb der Niederlande ging es quer durch England, Deutschland, Polen, Schweden oder Tschechien. Wichtig für das Quintett sind uneingeschränkte Authentizität, Qualität und die ansteckende “Do it together”-Mentalität der bekennenden Schnurrbart-Träger.

Gitarrist Alfred van Luttikhuizen (in Holland ein bekannter Radiomoderator) weiß: “Ohne unsere Fans und den Rest der John Coffey-Crew sind wir nichts. Zusammenhalt und Inspiration ergänzen sich und sind sehr wichtig für uns.” Das beweist auch die erfolgreiche Sellaband-Kampagne, mit der die Band sehr schnell die finanziellen Mittel für die Albumaufnahmen zu Bright Companions in Schweden realisieren konnte. Lachend fügt er hinzu: “Das klingt jetzt vielleicht ein wenig anbiedernd. Aber wir lieben es in jedem Fall gemeinsam zu feiern, schließlich sind John Coffey-Shows immer unglaubliche Partys!”


John Coffey from Utrecht (NL) makes a successful mix of punk, rock ´n´ roll and screamo. Outside of The Netherlands, they played a lot of stages in England, Germany, Poland, Sweden and Czech Republic. Absolute authenticity is very important for these five moustache-lovers as well as their infectious DIY-mentality.

Guitarplayer Alfred van Luttikhuizen: “Without our fans and the John Coffey-crew we are nothing. Team spirit and inspiration make us what we are.” Best proof of this is the successful Sellaband-campaign which helped the band fund the money in no-time to realize the recordings in Sweden. Van Luttikhuizen laughs: “Well, it might sound a little bit hail-fellow-well-met, but in the end we just love celebrating these unbelievable John Coffey-parties together.”
